Bluegrass United Church of Christ is part of the Indiana-Kentucky Conference, which includes United Church of Christ congregations in Kentucky and Indiana and the Kentuckiana Association, which includes 21 UCC churches, most of which are located in Louisville and just across the river in Indiana.

Bluegrass  had its first meeting and worship service on January 9, 2011. In just eight short years, attendance has grown from 15 to 20 people to an average now of 80 to 90 each Sunday morning.

From its birth, Bluegrass UCC has been heavily focused on community outreach and is intentional in living out the UCC’s mantra "no matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.”

For many years, it was dreamed that a diverse UCC community might be formed in Lexington that would be inclusive and progressive. Early in our development, the pastor, church council, and congregation adopted the following statements of Who We Are.
