-ACKNOWLEDGEMENT-
We acknowledge that the place where we are gathered today is the ancient and ancestral homeland of more than twenty Indigenous tribes. We mourn the loss of their lives, livelihoods, homes, and cultures, and acknowledge the legacy of violence against them.
We acknowledge that the space where we worship today was established and built by those whose Black ancestors were also abused and mistreated - some even bought and sold as enslaved people right here in our city.
We acknowledge the women who’ve faced unfair treatment and misogyny throughout the ages, and we acknowledge those who identify as LGBTQ or other who’ve been mistreated and misunderstood.
We acknowledge our role and responsibility as professed followers of Christ to stand for and alongside all of these and others who have been and continue to be oppressed.

We each have been given gifts from God to use in the world.
SOME WILL BE TEACHERS, OTHERS PREACHERS;
Some will dream visions of possibility; others will make the vision a reality
SOME WILL BE LEADERS, OTHERS SKILLED WORKERS.
Some will be peacemakers; some change agents;
And others fighters of injustice in the world.
Some are gifted as huggers, cooks, street sweepers and letter writers.
ALL ARE BLESSED BY GOD TO BUILD A WORLD OF LOVE.
All gifts come from God!
LET US BECOME WILLING TO OPEN OUR GIFTS AND TRUST THAT GOD WILL USE IT.

I Corinthians 12:4-11 (CEB)
There are different spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; and there are different ministries and the same Lord; and there are different activities but the same God who produces all of them in everyone. A demonstration of the Spirit is given to each person for the common good. A word of wisdom is given by the Spirit to one person, a word of knowledge to another according to the same Spirit, faith to still another by the same Spirit, gifts of healing to another in the one Spirit, performance of miracles to another, prophecy to another, the ability to tell spirits apart to another, different kinds of tongues[a] to another, and the interpretation of the tongues to another. All these things are produced by the one and same Spirit who gives what he wants to each person.
